Suspected Impaired Riders Arrested for Separate Weekend Collisions

Motorists continue to take chances with their lives, as well as the lives of other road users, by riding and driving while intoxicated by alcohol, or other mind-altering substances. Court appearances for each of the arrested riders are anticipated.

Collision Involving Motorcyclist & Pedestrian

Around 1:40am, Sunday 19th July 2026, police officers responded to a reported collision involving a motorcyclist and a pedestrian, near the junction of Serpentine Road and Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke.

The 28-year-old male rider apparently sustained relatively minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The pedestrian, understood to be a 30-year-old male, is also believed to have sustained relatively minor injuries.

Rider Collides With Police Motorcyclist

Around 9:55pm, Saturday 18th July 2026, a reported two-vehicle collision occurred on St. David’s Road in St. George’s, near the junction with Texas Road.

It appears that a 24-year-old male motorcyclist travelling in the westbound lane of St. David’s Road attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a male police officer riding a marked police motorcycle, travelling in the opposite direction.

Apparently, the police officer was not hurt, while the 24-year-old rider sustained relatively minor injuries. He was issued tickets for traffic offences including not having a driver’s licence, plus riding an uninsured motorcycle and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Enforcement alone will not promote a community mindset shift to a culture where impaired driving is socially unacceptable. As stated in a related media release last Friday, if a friend, family member, or colleague is insisting on driving, or riding under the influence, attempt to convince them not to take the chance.

If that doesn’t work, call 211 and report them. Saving lives and preventing serious injuries to friends, family members, work colleagues, visitors, as well as the motoring public in general, through such proactive interventions, helps make Bermuda’s roads safer for all.
