“The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, together with Members of the PTEH Advisory Panel and Steering Committee, will host Community Consultation Sessions and are eager to engage with the public to gather valuable insights and perspectives on the draft strategic plan aimed at ending homelessness in Bermuda.” said the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, the Hon. Tineé Furbert, JP, MP.
The sessions will cover various aspects, including understanding the root causes of homelessness, providing an overview of the strategic plan, discussing available properties island-wide, and assessing the current state of homelessness in Bermuda.
“We invite persons who have been impacted by homelessness or who have an interest in homelessness to join the conversation and get to know the faces behind the stories,” says Minister Furbert. “Ask the questions that have really been bothering you. We want to appeal to persons with experiences related to homelessness to attend and offer insight.”
Minister Furbert added, “With vacant buildings and unoccupied property island-wide, we will also look at some of the island’s properties and identify the best solutions for social housing. What are some concerns shared by landowners and landlords?”
“Bermuda, your feedback is invaluable in fortifying this plan to truly reflect the needs and aspirations of our community. After considering all of your input, the comprehensive strategic plan will be finalised and published in April 2024 for subsequent execution,” emphasises Minister Furbert.
