Spirit Airlines Flight Diverts to Bermuda After Serious Fuel Leak

Spirit Airlines Flight 332, operating from Philadelphia to San Juan, Puerto Rico, made an unexpected diversion to Bermuda last night after the crew reported a serious fuel leak from the aircraft’s right wing.

The Airbus A320, registered as N631NK, first alerted air traffic control to the issue around 9:00 p.m. local time. Shortly afterward, the decision was made to divert to L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda for an emergency landing. The aircraft touched down safely at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Upon landing, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service airport team immediately responded to the scene. Crews confirmed a significant fuel leak from the right wingtip and promptly ordered all fuel pumps shut down to prevent further spillage. Once the leak had slowed, the aircraft was allowed to taxi carefully to the terminal, where fire crews placed a bucket beneath the wing to collect the remaining leaking fuel.

Spirit Airlines arranged recovery flights for the impacted passengers, with a replacement flight scheduled to depart Bermuda at 8:15 a.m. this morning.

Fortunately, the aircraft landed without incident, and thanks are extended to the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service for their swift and professional response.
