A 23-year-old Smith’s Parish man appeared in Magistrates’ Court today facing two serious charges in connection with the killing of Janae Minors.
Najee Simons was formally charged with the murder of Ms. Minors, and with using a firearm without a license to commit the offense.
Simons was not required to enter a plea, as the case will be sent to the Supreme Court. He was remanded into custody until the December arraignment session.
During the hearing, Simons was represented by defense attorney Charles Richardson, while Crown Counsel Mr. Matthew Frick appeared on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
