Sloop Foundation Chairman Thanks Patrons for their Support

In commemoration of their 25th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of “ the Spirit of Bermuda” vessel, Chairman of the Bermuda Sloop Foundation David Goodwin would like to thank everyone who has supported the organization through the years, through thick and thin.

“ Everyone in this community is hurting in one way or another, but we have to thank people who have volunteered their time, effort and emotional stability for this community,” Mr. Goodwin said. “ We have to thank people who give to the community and the resources of that community are very giving and so we say thank you very much for getting us through this [difficult] period.”

The Sloop Foundation held an event Friday and Sunday night thanking people for their support.

“ We must instill pride [into our youth]; national pride, self-pride, pride in our nautical history and we want them to feel that they’ve accomplished something meaningful, stepped outside of their comfort zone, and mastered skills that they might not have even known they had,” Mr. Goodwin explained.

“ If you join our organization, you will join a family that is nurturing and treating you to more socially beneficial behaviors and positive outlooks. This world is open to anyone who wants to take on challenges, to get out in the open and face Mother Nature head-on. This changing environment is what we have to adapt to.”
