Slanga’s New Single Dedicated to Jewel of the Atlantic

On Sunday September 12, TNN’s Trevor Lindsay caught up with local music artist Ronae Burgess, AKA “Slanga”, who was filming the music video for his newest song “Bermuda 441”, which is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Jewel of the Atlantic.

“ A lot of people around the world have not even heard of Bermuda, so, [through this song and video], we’re trying to put Bermuda out there,” Slanga said. “ Bermuda is where I was born, lived, grown up, went to school and worked, so it’s time to bring up the red, blue and white.”

He attributes his talent as both a singer and songwriter to God and feels truly blessed to be one of the island’s many talented young local artists.

“ There is a lot of talent here and most times we try to take it a step further and now there are more ways to get our music out there with the internet platforms,” he said. “ Keep doing what you love and loving what you do.”

When Slanga is not performing, recording or writing songs, he finds time to read, meditate, give thanks, fast, and so much more. It is truly the positive reception and feedback from his fans that keep him going through everything.

“ We will keep pushing our music and are thankful to all radio stations, disc jockeys, sound systems and everyone who plays their parts and roles,” he said. “ We give thanks to everyone. We also have a lot of rhythms from overseas, from all four corners of the earth.”
