SkillCraft Opens Applications for 2025 Social Media Marketing Student Internship

SkillCraft is opening applications for the fourth year of its experiential careers summer youth internship.

Facilitated by Programme Director Margot Shane, SkillCraftprovides young Bermudians with experiential training and work experience in a core business skill. Through this exploration, the interns become better prepared for their working lives after high school.

The SkillCraft Youth Internship pairs students ages 16 to 18 with local businesses and charities seeking assistance with social media marketing. Guided by marketing expert Aziza Furbert, the interns acquire fundamental marketing and social media knowledge and skills. The interns then practice their skills by working on their hosts’ social media marketing throughout the six-week programme. Additionally, the interns receive one-on-one coaching sessions to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.

The 2025 SkillCraft Youth Internship will run from June 30thto August 8th. SkillCraft is accepting 15 students and 15 host organisations for this summer’s programme.

Ms Shane remarked, “We are thrilled to see our young people thrive and excel during our programme. Over the past three years, our interns have had a 100% completion rate. Last year, seven of the fifteen interns were offered ongoing social media work with their host business following the programme. One of our interns took the skills she acquired from SkillCraft and secured an entry-level position at a high-profile organisation. It is a testament to the hard work of our young people and also the supportive host mentors we’ve been fortunate to have participated.”

SkillCraft tracks several behaviours over the course of the programme, with the host organisations providing ratings for their interns and the interns rating themselves. Every workplace behaviour rating improved significantly within the six weeks on average.

“SkillCraft has had a great impact on me,” stated Mya Smith, an intern from Cohort 3 in 2024. “I feel more comfortable and confident to present and talk to adults and people in general. I feel more confident for interviews. It has been an amazing experience.”
