A serious road traffic collision occurred earlier this afternoon on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Industrial Park Road and outside the SAL entrance.
TNN News understands the collision involved a car and a livery cycle.
According to preliminary information, the female rider of the livery cycle, who is understood to be a visitor to Bermuda, was travelling west along Middle Road when she reportedly attempted to avoid a truck at the Industrial Park junction.
The livery cycle subsequently crossed into the path of an oncoming car, resulting in a collision.
The female rider was transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
TNN understands that the rider sustained extremely serious injuries, although the full extent of those injuries has not been confirmed at this time.
The male driver of the car is not believed to have sustained injuries.
Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene, which was subsequently closed while officers processed the area and conducted their investigation.
TNN News is awaiting further official information from the Bermuda Police Service Media Relations Department, including confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the collision and an update on the condition of the injured rider.
