Senior Citizen charged with GBH in Magistrates Court

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court today, a 65-year-old woman faced a series of serious charges stemming from a traffic incident that occurred on May 13, 2023.

Eveline Simons was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to an individual by driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention. Following the incident, Simons failed to stop, did not provide her name and address as required by law, and did not report the accident to the nearest police station.

Simons pled guilty to all the charges. Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered a social inquiry report to assess Simons’ background and the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Bail was set at $3,000 and Simons is expected to return to court for sentencing.
