The seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine is now available at designated Flu Express locations. The Flu Express is open to those aged 12 and older and costs $20.00 per person for adults and children, payable by cash or online. Seniors aged 65 and older can receive the vaccine free of charge.
Flu Express clinics will be held at these locations:
- For Seniors (65 and older) and vulnerable groups:
Saturday, 25 October- Hamilton Health Centre, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM - Individuals 12 years and older:
Tuesday, 28 October – Boaz Island Community Field, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Wednesday, 29 October – Penno’s Wharf, St. George’s, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Vulnerable groups include individuals aged 65 and older and people with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, or heart disease who are at increased risk of flu-related complications. These individuals should inform their doctor once vaccinated.
To reduce wait times and minimise paperwork, members of the public are encouraged to complete the online consent form and payment athttps://forms.gov.bm/Influenza-Vaccine-Consent. A confirmation email will be sent and must be shown upon arrival. If you are unable to complete the form online, it will be available at the Flu Express location.
Flu vaccines are also available through your healthcare providers. Children 12 years and younger are encouraged to visit their healthcare provider for their flu shot.
Flu vaccines will only be administered to individuals in good health and without active infections. You will not be vaccinated if you have:
- Allergies to eggs or chicken products
- Allergies to any component of the vaccine
- If you have previously had a reaction to the flu shot
- If you currently have a fever or are feeling unwell
- If you have experienced a seizure within the past year
Please wear clothing that allows easy access to your upper arm for vaccination. If you choose to pay in cash, please bring the exact amount. Credit card facilities will not be available at Flu Express sites.
Minister Wilson recently received her annual flu shot and emphasised the importance of this preventive measure, stating, “Getting the flu vaccine each year is a simple and effective way to protect yourself and others from seasonal influenza. It reduces the risk of severe illness and helps prevent the spread of the virus within our community.”
