Road and Lane Closures This Weekend

The Ministry of Public Works would like to warn the public of a road closure and a lane closure in two locations on the island.

Due to BLDC’s trench work in the east end of the island, the eastbound lane in between Tiger’s Bay and Rocky Hill Park in St. George’s has been closed as of Monday August 2 and will remain closed until at least Friday November 5. Workers will be working in that lane from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday thru Saturday.

As a result of this lane closure, all motorists are urged to avoid Penno’s Wharf parking area during the first two weeks of August and all motorists, especially construction vehicles and buses, are urged to use extreme caution when passing any open trenches.

BELCO is doing some important trench work farther west, near St. Mary’s Church in Warwick. As a result, the St. Mary’s Road (Cedar Hill Road) and Middle Road junction will be closed from Saturday August 7 thru Sunday August 8. Similar to in the east end, working hours will be from 7:30 am to 6 p.m. both days.

Motorists traveling west are advised to seek alternative routes, via Khyber Pass to South Road or Longford Road to Harbour Road. Motorists traveling eastward are advised to use Camp Hill to South Road or Tamarind Vale Street to Harbour Road.

The Ministry of Public Works thanks the public for their cooperation in both scenarios and apologizes for any inconvenience that these closures might cause.
