Recruiting Corrections Officers to Safeguard Community Well-being

“Joining the Department of Corrections presents an incredible chance to serve our community and promote security, safety and rehabilitation within our Island,” said Acting Minister of National Security Owen Darrell on the Department of Corrections’ (DOC) latest drive to recruit Corrections Officers.

The DOC is on a mission to bolster its ranks with dedicated and passionate Bermudians focused on upholding security, safety and contributing to community welfare.

The DOC urges suitably qualified individuals to seize the opportunity by submitting their applications before the January 3, 2024, deadline.

Minister Darrell emphasised: “We encourage aspiring candidates to explore this fulfilling career path that plays a pivotal role in shaping a secure and supportive Bermuda.”

Commissioner of Corrections Keeva Joell-Benjamin highlighted the significance of this recruitment drive, stating, “Bermuda needs dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact.

“Becoming a Corrections Officer is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to contribute to the betterment of our society, ensuring the security, safety and rehabilitation of those within our care.

“We offer a competitive pay package, job security, training, and a dynamic and fulfilling career path for individuals seeking to make a tangible difference in Bermuda’s social fabric.”

Successful applicants will undergo a 12-week curriculum encompassing all the essential elements necessary for success and competency in their future roles.

The course includes instruction on pertinent legislation, such as the Prison Act 1979, the Criminal Code Amendment Act 2001, training in the use of force, and other legal statutes.
