The Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR) is pleased to launch its student-soldier scholarship for students enrolled at Bermuda College. This initiative aims to facilitate the development of future leaders who demonstrate academic promise, who may have a need for financial support, and who possess a strong commitment to personal growth and national service.
This award provides full tuition to up to four students annually who are pursuing a certificate, diploma, or associate degree at Bermuda College. In addition to their academic studies, recipients will also serve in a paid, part-time capacity within the Regiment, gaining practical experience in leadership and resource management while also providing a service to the general public.
“We are investing in Bermuda’s future by supporting young people who are committed to excellence and community service,” said Major Dwight Robinson, Career Management Officer for the Royal Bermuda Regiment. “Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders; individuals who not only excel in their academic pursuits, but also understand the value of public service and national duty.”
“With concurrent studies, there is a need for balance,” said Major Robinson. “Awardees will be supported by their chain of command and through careful scheduling to ensure that their training and academic priorities do not compete. The Regiment is committed to working with students and Bermuda College to provide flexibility and structure that promotes success in both areas.”
The scholarship offers full tuition to Bermuda College and is open to Bermudian nationals aged 18 to 25 as of July 1, 2025. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 and be accepted into a certificate, diploma, or associate degree programme at Bermuda College. Four students will be selected to receive the award, which they may hold for up to two years. In addition to academic eligibility, recipients are required to serve on a part-time basis in the Royal Bermuda Regiment for a term of three years and two months, participating in up to 45 training days annually, including one mandatory 2 week camp. Applicants must meet the Regiment’s physical fitness, health, and national security standards, and must remain in good academic and military standing to retain the award. The application period opened on April 7, 2025, and closes on June 1, 2025.
