Bailey’s Bay have had their innings closed at 227 for nine, as play takes place in the second round of the Eastern Counties Cup competition at Lord’s, St David’s.
In what has been a rain-affected contest, the defending champions won the toss and elected to bat against challengers Flatts Victoria.
Derrick Brangman Jand Michael Agard top-scored for Bay, with each tallying 47 runs, thus placing Bay in a formidable position to defend.
Adding useful contributions were Sinclair Smith (36), captain Terryn Fray (28) and Delray Rawlins (28).
Kamau Leverock spearheaded Flatts’ bowling attack, taking four wickets for 81 runs, while Jan-Johan Nel and veteran Kevin Hurdle each took two scalps.
Numerous weather delays helped extend Bay’s innings, with Flatts unable to get their turn to bat until 4 pm, leaving them little more than two hours to chase the target.
