The Bermuda Professional Golf Association [BPGA] has elected a new executive team to be led by former Bermuda College Lecturer, Mr. Quinton Sherlock Jr,
Sherlock holds a Master Degree in Psychology from Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama, USA. Sherlock is a Class A member within the Bermuda PGA ranks and a Certified Golfzon Leadbetter Golf Instructor.
An accomplished amateur player before turning professional, he was a junior champion and past Mid Ocean Club Champion.
In addition, Sherlock is a former Ocean View Golf Club and Bermuda Junior Golf Association President [BJGA].
He distinguished himself by reigniting both organizations prior to successfully transferring his skills, knowledge and vision to Ghana, West Africa.
BPGA president Sherlock stated, “It is a pleasure to be back on island and an honour to lead the Bermuda PGA.
“I’d like to thank Scott Roy and his team for the work they’ve done. It is my intention to continue moving the organization forward serving our members and developing golf on the island.”
The new head man is joined on the executive by immediate past president Roy as secretary, with the latter having stepped aside after the vote for president ended in a tie.
Meanwhile, club professional Chaka Desilva was elected to the position of treasurer, Chris Smith as Tournament Chairman, with Marshall Minors, Nick Jones and former president and captain Kim Swan . rounding out the executive.
A Special General Meeting will be held to re-elect Steven Lambert as vice-president.
Former president Roy commented on the new president, saying: ” I am excited that Quinton Sherlock wished to run as President. I look forward to working alongside him and the rest of our committee. “Quinton will bring new energy and ideas to our association and together we will represent our members and golf in Bermuda to the best of our abilities.”
