In May of 2016, 35-year-old Jevon Daniels was reported missing. On June 17 of the same year, police found a dead body in the bushes in Sandys, which they later confirmed to be Mr. Daniels.
Today, Davin Providence, 38, appeared in Magistrate’s Court charged with Mr. Daniels’ unlawful killing. Since the case must be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr. Providence was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offense this morning.
The Worshipful Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo moved the case up to the Supreme Court, where it will be mentioned during the July arraignment session on Thursday, July 1.
Mr. Providence’s bail is set at $20,000 with the following conditions: that he report to the Hamilton Police Station three days a week, that he surrender all travel documents to the courts and not leave the jurisdiction unless permitted to do so and that he be fitted with an Electronic Monitoring Device (EMD) when one becomes available.
Magistrate Tokunbo also ordered that Mr. Providence has no contact with four witnesses that the Crown plans to use in their case.
