Proclamation Launch for Domestic Abuse Awareness Month

Empowering Communities to Break the Cycle of Abuse

As part of the global observance of Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, Bermuda will officially launch its month-long campaign to raise awareness and promote community engagement in tackling the issue of domestic abuse. Under the theme, “Empowering Communities to Break the Cycle of Abuse,” this year’s campaign will focus on uniting individuals, families, and organizations to work together in building a safer, more supportive Bermuda.

The public is invited to join the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, with the support of the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Committee (MARAC) at City Hall, Hamilton, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 12 PM to 2 PM for the proclamation launch event.

This event will be an opportunity for survivors, advocates, community leaders, and the general public to come together in solidarity to raise awareness and encourage those affected to seek support.

Domestic abuse takes many forms—whether physical, emotional, psychological, or financial—and impacts lives in profound and lasting ways. This month, we are committed to empowering individuals to speak out, offering resources for survivors, and educating the public about the warning signs of abuse.
