Last night, an attempted prison escape was foiled by Corrections officers after an inmate serving a life sentene escaped from his room and was found by the boundary wall of the E1 Unit.
Westgate Correctional Facility was already on lockdown, as officers noticed an inmate who will remain anonymous not in their cell.
This individual was apprehended and taken to the segregation unit, as an investigation commenced into the attempted escape.
TNN understands that this individual suffers from mental illness and that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred with this inmate.
