Premier Welcomes Reopening of Barracuda Grill

After several months of refurbishments and renovations, Barracuda Grill formally reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday (June 24).

And the Premier, the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, a former bartender, was on hand for the Hamilton restaurant’s re-opening.

He cited the reopening of Barracuda Grill, debuting a new cocktail lounge and an upgraded dining area, as an example of the Government supporting Bermuda’s local tourism and hospitality sectors.

While in attendance last evening Premier Burt said, “It is wonderful to see this staple of Hamilton continue to thrive and be a renewed place that locals and visitors can continue to enjoy. I started working at Barracuda 21 years ago, so it is great to be back.

“I congratulate President Phil Barnett and the Board of Directors for the Island Restaurant Group, the staff, and the entire Barracuda Grill team.”

The Premier noted that there has been progress in Bermuda’s tourism and hospitality industry, highlighting hotel development and restaurant infrastructure upgrades as indicators of a rebound.

The Premier also reminded local restaurants and entrepreneurs that Government support is available in the form of legislation that provides duty relief and concessions for new and existing businesses.

Also, in sharing his well wishes following the reopening of Barracuda Grill, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Sen. Owen Darrell, JP, added, “I want to extend my congratulations to Mr. Barnett and his amazing team at Barracuda Grill for helping raise the dining experience standard. Restaurants and attractions are the heartbeat of the visitor experience, playing a crucial role in achieving high visitor satisfaction. We will continue to support our partners in the industry like Barracuda Grill and others to create a destination that leaves every visitor eager to return to Bermuda and every resident expressing pride in our hospitality industry.”
