The Premier, The Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, has departed for Austin, Texas, this weekend after accepting an invitation to participate as a speaker at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference, one of the world’s leading forums for innovation, technology, and global business.
The Premier will deliver remarks and take part in a fireside chat as part of a presentation entitled “Bermuda’s Journey: A Leader in Digital Finance”, hosted by Alison Snyder, Managing Editor of Axios. During the presentation, the Premier will outline Bermuda’s pioneering regulatory framework, legislative approach, and industry collaboration, which have positioned the island as a global leader.
Speaking on the significance of this engagement, Premier Burt said, “Bermuda continues to make strides as a leading jurisdiction for digital finance. The Government continues to work diligently to position Bermuda as a trusted name in this space due to the regulatory expertise and clarity we provide. This work has successfully attracted industry leaders like Circle, Coinbase, and Kraken to our shores, creating jobs and ensuring that Bermuda remains at the forefront of digital finance innovation.
“Events like SXSW allow us to continue to tell our story to an international audience and to engage with business leaders, policymakers, and innovators. This engagement is key to maintaining Bermuda’s competitive edge, attracting further investment and expanding economic opportunities for Bermudians.”
Premier Burt is scheduled to return to Bermuda on Tuesday, 11 March. Minister Kim Wilson will be Acting Premier & Minister of Finance.
