Premier Burt – $25 Million Social Investment – Putting the People First

Premier David Burt today unveiled a 25 million dollar package geared toward addressing social issues impacting the island.

The funding, said Mr. Burt whi is also the Minister of Finance, will provide necessary support in the areas of education, social work as well as programmes addressing domestic violence and trauma councelling.

Mr. Burt also indicated the monies which are part of the Supplementary Estimate No. 1 for the 2024-25 financial year, will also provide funding for a daycare facility for seniors.

This, he said, will prove helpful to those who look after their elderly parents.

Further, he indicated the 25 million will also assist with private road works, community lighting, upgrades to youh centres, refurbishment of community playgrounds and doubling the funding to clear vegetation from roadsides, railway trails and parks.
