Premier and Chief of Staff make unfounded allegations against TNN.

Premier and Chief of Staff make unfounded allegations against TNN. Both men have alleged that TNN is benefiting financially – from a source they did not identify – because of its continued coverage of the upcoming PLP Delegates Conference.

The allegation made also suggested a close relative of a senior party member was involved with TNN. That official in the presence of TNN challenged Owen Darrell, the person making the claim, and he quickly apologized.

TNN is actively seeking legal advice on grounds of defamation.

To quote them directly: “Who is paying you to do those stories?”

The push back comes following TNN’s publication of stories on the election rules, the list of delegates, the announcement of challengers for the leader and deputy leader positions and claims of dissatisfaction with tactics used by the party leader and his team in the run up to the contest.

These stories all proved to be factual. TNN was first to produce a copy of the party’s election rules. TNN also highlighted concerns about the delegates eligible to vote in the upcoming poll. The party leader eventually indicated the list would be made public.

We were the first to confirm the open secret that Curtis Dickinson would challenge Mr. Burt for the party leadership as well as that Mrs. Renee Ming would run for the post of Deputy.

All of which have proven to be accurate and true.

The party leadership has not responded to any of our queries regarding election, despite several requests for comment.

However when this organisation publishes stories critical of the Opposition the PLP and its supporters are high in praise.

Further, TNN has been threatened with an injunction in a bid to prevent the organisation from publishing stories.
