A road traffic collision on South Road, near the T Street junction has resulted in an localised power outage.
A blue van appeared to have struck a wooden utility pole, causing major damage to both the pole and the vehicle, with the former collapsing after being smashed into and broken into sections.
A media release from BELCO revealed a loss of power for many residences, with crews working diligently to restore energy to those affected.
“As this will require a new pole we anticipate this restoration to take some time, but we want to assure our customers that our crews are currently working to restore power as fast and safely as possible,” read an Instagram post.
