Around 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, police officers were on mobile patrol in the area of Middle Road near the junction with Montpelier Road, Devonshire, when they had cause to stop a motorcar for suspected illegal tint.
As they engaged the driver of the vehicle, officers detected a strong odour of marijuana coming from the car.
This was pointed out to the driver who was informed the vehicle would be searched under the Misuse iof Drugs Act.
The driver initially refused to exit the vehicle, but eventually complied with the officers’ request and the vehicle was searched.
During the search, officers seized a quantity of plant-like material, a grinder and a small canister of suspected pepper spray.
The driver was cautioned and subsequently arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled drug, possession of drug equipment and a position of a prohibited weapon.
