POLICE MAKE MILLION DOLLAR DRUG BUST AND ARRESTS THURSDAY

On Wednesday, March 15th, 2023, The Bermuda Police Service (BPS), conducted a joint Operation with H.M. Customs.

The BPS Drugs Unit, assisted by the Financial Crime Unit and Tactical Division executed warrants at a business in the City of Hamilton and residences in the Devonshire and Pembroke Parishes.

During the operation a container shipment was seized.

A subsequent search of the container led to several packages containing the suspected controlled drug cannabis, with an estimated street value of $BDA 1.9 million being seized.

Four persons have been arrested in relation to this Operation.

Detective Superintendent (Ag) Sherwin Joseph who is in charge of the Crime Division stated: “This operation has disrupted the illegal activities of a well-organized crime group here in Bermuda, and has dealt a severe blow to their well-established illegal importation pipeline. We are thankful for the partnership with HM Customs, who assisted us with this operation”.

An Island Construction Services truck was contracted to assist with removing the container to a secure location so that it could be properly searched. No one associated with Island Construction Services was arrested or interviewed in relation to this operation.

The BPS Drug Unit will continue this investigation which is now at a critical stage and no further information will be provided at this time”.
