The Bermuda Police Service has been out in force across the island, issuing close to 70 traffic tickets as part of an ongoing road safety and enforcement operation.
According to police, since 7 a.m. this morning, officers have issued approximately 70 traffic tickets, including 40 for speeding and 10 for the use of mobile devices while operating a vehicle. The remaining tickets were issued for a range of other traffic offences.
The enforcement operation is continuing island-wide, with officers maintaining an increased presence on Bermuda’s roads throughout the day.
Despite the heightened police presence, the Bermuda Police Service says some motorists continue to demonstrate a concerning disregard for the rules of the road and the safety of other road users.
Police are once again urging all motorists and riders to slow down, exercise caution and remain considerate of others.
The Bermuda Police Service stresses that road safety is a shared responsibility, and every decision made behind the wheel or while riding can have serious consequences.
TNN also joins the Bermuda Police Service in urging the public to never drink and drive.
We have seen an increase in serious collisions involving suspected impaired driving, including crashes that have resulted in tragic loss of life.
The message is simple: If you drink, don’t drive.
Make the responsible decision, find another way home, and don’t put your life or someone else’s life at risk.
The life you save could be your own.
