Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday 22nd July, Police attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to a report of unlawful wounding.
Officers met the 65-year-old victim who stated he was coming from Somerset heading east on Middle Road, when a motorcycle struck his van from behind.
He pushed the cycle with his van into a bus layby, after the rider reportedly attempted to leave the scene.
The rider got off his bike, allegedly attacked the van driver and stabbed him multiple times about the body, with a bladed article.
The victims injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
