Around 12:15pm today (Sunday, 30th May) police and other first responders were dispatched to a reported serious two vehicle collision on South Road in Southampton, near the junction with Dolphin Ridge.
Details are limited at this time. However, early information suggests that a van and a 50cc scooter were involved.
The rider of the scooter, believed to be a 16-year-old girl, was seriously hurt.
She was given CPR at the scene which continued as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. An update on her condition is anticipated in due course.
The driver of the van was not injured.
Traffic delays in the area are to be expected as police process the scene.
Motorists headed east on South Road in Southampton are currently being diverted at Lighthouse Road, while motorists headed west are being diverted at the entrance to the Fairmont Southampton resort.
