Police investigating serious collisions involving pedestrian and a van

Around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a light van on Front Street between King and Court Street.

Early information suggests that the male pedestrian stepped off the curb into the path of the moving van, where he was struck. It is believed the pedestrian sustained a head injury.

On arrival, first responders found the man breathing but unresponsive. He was transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be serious injuries.

Traffic in the area is being diverted via Court Street heading out the city and inbound traffic will be allowed to flow on Front Street, while the scene is processed. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.
