Ms. Severe was one of several visiting cruise ship passengers at the Horseshoe Bay Beach on Saturday, the 21st of August, 2022.

It was reported that Ms. Severe and others from her group were out snorkeling in shallow waters, when Lifeguards observed that she had not moved from her position for a period of time and decided to check in on her. On doing so, they discovered that she was unresponsive. Lifeguards pulled her body ashore, where lifesaving efforts were attempted by lifeguards and two off-duty nurses, prior to the arrival of emergency services.
