Police identify 10th road traffic fatality victim

Sadly, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm Bermuda’s tenth road fatality of 2026, 45-year-old Michael DeSilva.

The BPS extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

The two vehicles involved, a car driven by a 37-year-old woman and a motorcycle ridden by Mr. DeSilva, were apparently travelling in opposite directions when the road traffic collision occurred around 11:30pm Sunday, 26th July 2026, along Middle Road, Sandys, near the junction with Field View Lane.

He was seriously injured and later pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A BPS Family Liaison Officer is assisting Mr. DeSilva’s loved ones, while this fatal collision investigation is ongoing.
