Police have been kept busy so far this Bermuda Day weekend, responding to multiple infractions including drunk driving, possession of bladed articles, and arrests on outstanding warrants. Thankfully, no major incidents have been reported at this stage.
With the weekend still in full swing—Saturday, and Sunday ahead—police will maintain a strong presence across island hotspots.
Some great work by members of the public who alerted us to two individuals acting suspiciously during today’s festivities in the city.
When our officers approached the subjects, they gave chase but were eventually apprehended in the area of the number eight car park, Front Street.
Two knives were were seized from the suspects one of whom was found in possession of a quantity of what we believe to be controlled drugs.
It turns out the bike on which they were traveling was stolen.
A massive thank you to those members of the public who alerted us to these two individuals, you may just have helped avert an unfortunate situation.
Just goes to prove what can be accomplished when the community and police work together.
Bermuda, let’s keep it safe. Enjoy the holiday responsibly.
