On Saturday evening, police officers conducting stop-and-search checkpoints across the island intercepted a man attempting to evade law enforcement while riding a motorcycle.
According to reports, the rider tried to avoid a checkpoint and proceeded down a dead-end street. Officers gave chase and successfully apprehended the individual shortly thereafter. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had six outstanding warrants.
Further checks uncovered multiple violations: the motorcycle was unlicensed and uninsured, was displaying a false license plate, and the suspect was found in possession of what is believed to be crack cocaine.
The individual is expected to appear in Magistrates’ Court in the near future.
With the upcoming Cup Match holiday—a four-day weekend at the end of the month—TNN urges members of the public to ensure that all vehicle documentation is up to date. This includes licenses, insurance, and registration for both cars and bikes.
Law enforcement will be out in full force during the holiday period, and failure to comply with road safety laws may result in arrest and court appearance.
Additionally, TNN reminds residents and visitors alike: don’t drink and drive. If you plan to consume alcohol, make arrangements for a designated driver or use a cab service.
Stay safe and responsible this Cup Match holiday.
