Authorities are appealing for witnesses after a disturbance broke out on New Year’s Day at the Somerset Cricket Club around 4 p.m. Reports indicate that a brawl involving 8 to 10 youths escalated, believed to involve individuals from rival town and country groups.
An eyewitness, speaking to TNN, described the incident as deeply concerning and emphasized the challenges facing Bermuda’s young men. “Our young men are really having challenges,” the female witness shared. She expressed frustration and questioned how such situations can be effectively addressed within the community.
The altercation involved groups of teenagers, reportedly senior high school students, engaging in physical confrontations. One individual sustained abrasions during the fight.
Police have appealed for information after an altercation involving several young people at a football match on New Year’s Day.
The Bermuda Police Service said officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Somerset Cricket Club at about 4pm on Wednesday after the Friendship Trophy final between Dandy Town and PHC.
A spokesperson said one person was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
