PLP’s Rev. Dr Emilygail Dill Wins C36 By-Election

Last night in the C-36 by-election for Sandy North, Rev. Dr. Emilygail Dill successfully retained the seat, for the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) securing 162 votes.

Coming in second was Marc Bean of the FDM with 108 votes, followed by Independent candidate Cire Bean with 95 votes, and Carl Neblett of the OBA, who garnered 91 votes.

Following last night’s C-36 by-election, Marc Bean, leader of the FDM, congratulated Rev. Dr. Emilygail Dill on her victory.

However, he emphasized the need for the opposition parties to unite in order to effectively challenge the PLP.

Bean called for a collaborative effort between the OBA, FDM, and Independent candidates, suggesting that they come together for discussions on how to form a stronger front to defeat the PLP in future elections.

Cire Bean, the 26-year-old Independent candidate who finished third in the C-36 by-election, expressed gratitude to those who supported him.

He emphasized that his work starts now, as he prepares for the next general election. Bean plans to continue engaging with the community, knocking on doors, and listening to the concerns of C-36 residents, aiming to strengthen his campaign for when the general election is called.

OBA leader Jarrion Richardson congratulated all the candidates who finished ahead of Carl Neblett in the C-36 by-election.

When asked about the possibility of collaborating with the Independent candidate and the FDM, Richardson agreed that it could be a good strategy.

However, he emphasized that any collaboration must begin immediately as they prepare for the next general election, which is expected between Now and February of 2026.

He acknowledged the short timeframe and stressed the importance of pulling the party’s resources together and getting ready for the upcoming electoral challenge.

The by-election was prompted by the resignation of Kathy-Lynn Simmons. Premier Burt, expressing confidence in the results, stated that his administration is focused on continuing its work and addressing key issues moving forward.
