The Progressive Labour Party (PLP) is set
to host its 59th Annual Delegates Conference on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, under the theme “The Power of One.” The event, which will be held at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Centennial Hall, will run from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM and promises an engaging lineup of performances, reflections, and inspiring speeches.
The conference will begin with a warm welcome from PLP Party Chair, J. Dawn Simmons, followed by an opening prayer by Rev. Ruth Vanlowe-Smith and a stirring performance by the Kingdom Mimes. The evening will feature a special tribute to the late Bro. Glenn Woods, a long-standing and devoted PLP member, who is remembered for his dedication and contributions to the Party and the community.
We are honoured to have Rev. Nicholas Genevieve-Tweed of St. Paul’s AME Church and The People’s Campaign as our keynote speaker. Rev. Genevieve-Tweed will provide his perspective and insight on community empowerment and unity.
Throughout the evening, there will be performances from the Blues Beat Band and Septimus, adding a dynamic cultural element to the event. Minister Tinee Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Youth, Social Development & Seniors, will take the stage to speak on the key issues facing Bermuda’s youth and seniors, reflecting the Party’s commitment to the well-
being and future of Bermudians of all generations.
The evening will culminate with an address from Party Leader, Premier David Burt, JP MP, who will outline the Party’s vision moving forward and emphasize the critical importance of collective action in addressing Bermuda’s challenges.
Party Chair J. Dawn Simmons reflected on the significance of this year’s theme, stating, “‘The Power of One’ reminds us that while individual contributions may seem small, together they create powerful change.
Every member and every supporter of the PLP plays a crucial role in driving the Party forward and building a fairer Bermuda for all of us.”
The conference will also serve as an opportunity for the PLP to reaffirm its commitment to grassroots engagement, with the Party’s “Branches in the Community” segment highlighting the work being done by local branches to support the communities they serve.
This year’s conference will be hosted by Nadanja Bailey, who will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
The Progressive Labour Party invites all Bermudians to join in and engage with the discussions, performances, and reflections at the 59th Annual Delegates Conference, as the Party looks to continue its mission of creating “A Fairer Bermuda for All of Us.”
