The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party opened its 60th Annual General Conference tonight with a powerful call for renewal and unity under the theme “Leading for the Next Generation.”
Held at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium, the opening night celebrated the Party’s legacy while spotlighting a new generation of Bermudians stepping forward to serve. The evening featured remarks from Premier David Burt, Minister Jaché Adams, and community champion Aaron Crichlow of Bermuda Is Love, each emphasizing service, and the importance of preparing future leaders to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Party Chair J. Dawn Simmons said, “Tonight we honoured our history while looking forward to the future. This conference marks a moment of renewal, where experience meets new energy, and where our next generation of leaders prepare to carry the torch forward toward a better, fairer Bermuda.”
The Party tonight paid tribute to two of our longstanding members, congratulating Leleath Bailey and Roderick Burchall for their decades of service and sacrifice to Bermuda and The PLP.
“The message from Mr. Crichlow, encouraging us to focus on love of service to others, moving from reform to transformation and taking our young people into a brighter tomorrow deeply resonated with us and has, in my opinion, reignited our passion to embrace our youth and together, redouble our efforts to elevate the condition of our people,” Ms. Simmons concluded.
Premier and PLP Leader David Burt concluded the evening speaking to the work needed to get Bermuda’s youth stating,”If our children are to inherit a fairer Bermuda, they must be involved in building it today. And for that to happen, we must make room for them. We must not only give them a seat at the table, but also empower them and encourage them to share their ideas, concerns, and hopes for the Bermuda they envision,”
The 2025 PLP Annual Delegate’s Conference continues through the week with party Delegates participating in workshops, policy forums, as well as sessions on grassroots engagement, leadership development, and community resilience.
