PLP Delegates Conference Will Be Historical

Speculation is rife that a major announcement will be made, possibly tomorrow, about challengers for the positions of leader and deputy leader of the Progressive Labour Party.

It has been suggested that many within the PLP want to see a change in leadership. Outside the party, the calls have been more pronounced, with one Labour Day marcher famously carrying a “Get Burt Outt” placard, which some say is reflective of how the public feels.

There have been allegations of unethical practices by the current party leadership in their bid to remain at the helm of the party. Allegations which a party spokesperson has vehemently denied.

That notwithstanding it’s thought that this announcement, could well be the catalyst to the change being called for. As one PLP stalwart put it: “The announcement will bring a breath of fresh air, as tensions across the island remain high as a result of David Burt’s leadership of not just the party, but in fact the country as a whole.”
