Petition Heads To Governor Lalgie For Consideration

This petition is the brainchild of grassroots activist Mrs. Esmee Williams and the organizing team of Mrs. Maxine Esdaille, Mrs. Chery-Ann Griffin and myself, Cindy Swan.
The journey of this petition commenced right here in the Sweeting Ball Hall at the Bermuda Industrial Union on January 26, 2022.

We’d like to thank the media especially Mr. Glen Blakeney and Mrs. Beverly Howell at Inter-Island Communication, Mr. Dwayne Caines at the Corporation of Hamilton, the BIU, the AME churches, Dub City, Crawl Esso and all the individuals that helped us gather signatures for the petition.

We thank those who sought us out in Hamilton, in St. George’s and Somerset to sign the petition and those who bravely went online and signed their names to the this petition to end the extravagant use of taxpayers’ dollars investigating a former premier of Bermuda.
Bermuda this investigation has been ongoing for over 10 years, using over 10 million dollars and counting with no resolution.
Yesterday we delivered the hand written signatures and online signatures collected of the petition to our Governor, Her Excellency Rena Lalgie with copies for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office.

When we started out with shared that we knew the governor was not the one able to put an end to the enormous use of taxpayer funds and was collecting the signatures to be sent to Her Majesty the Queen and other judicial agencies. We, your grassroots activist along the way learned that
1. The charges against Dr. Brown is entitled “The Queen vs Ewart Fitsgerald Winslowe Brown”
2. That according to Bermuda Constitution section 71a The DPP Ms Cindy Clarke has the authority to discontinue this over 10 years and over 10 million of taxpayers investigating Dr. Brown Upon acknowledgement of our request for an audience with Ms. Clarke, we will hand deliver the petition to her.

We would like to thank all who took time to sign the petition without fear. Our main intention of the petition was to bring awareness to the continued prosecution and persecution of Dr. Ewart Brown, our former Premier of Bermuda.

To that end we surpassed our goal. With the backing of these signatures, we are using all our voices to appeal to our DPP Ms. Cindy Clarke to consider discounting this seemingly endless investigation as these funds from her budget can be better deployed to combat the plethora of the mass escalation of criminal behavior in our community.

Bermuda Dr. Brown is over 3 scores and ten and he’s spent the past ten years and countless dollars defending himself.
We beg of your indulgence Ms. Clarke to show some compassion towards senior statesman.
