Ord Road man denies $10,00 handbag theft, remanded after court outburst

A 64-year-old man from Ord road appeared in Magistrates’ Court today to face a trio of dishonesty charges relating to the alleged theft of a high-end designer handbag and its contents.

Anthony Webster Swan stood before Senior Magistrate, The Worshipful Maxanne Anderson, charged with Prowling, trespassing, and theft. The incident is said to have occurred at a residence on Harbor Drive  in Hamilton Parish, where Swann allegedly stole a Louis Vuitton handbag and its contents valued at $10,000.

Swann, who elected to have his case tried in Magistrates’ Court, pleaded not guilty to all charges. During proceedings, he became visibly agitated and had a few outburst, prompting Magistrate Anderson to issue a stern warning.

“If you continue to disrupt the court, I will hold you in contempt,” she said, regaining order in the courtroom.

Following the incident, Swann was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return to court for disclosure on August 8 at 9:30 a.m.
