Ongoing industrial action results in continued delays in trash collection

The Ministry of Public Works advised today (Sunday) that delays in trash collection continue this weekend, because of industrial action by Collections Staff.

The Ministry is hopeful that trash collection will resume tomorrow morning (Monday July 26). The Ministry notes that it has sought to clear some of the trash backlog in the east end this weekend.

In the meantime, residents who are able to take their trash to Tynes Bay today (Sunday) are encouraged to do so. Additionally, Marsh Folly is also open today if residents wish to disgard any horticultural waste.

Lastly, the Ministry fully recognises and appreciates inconvenience caused to the community due to the staff industrial action and regrets any distress caused to the public.

The matter is being addressed by the Bermuda Industrial Union and the Ministry’s management team.

And it’s hoped that a resolution can be reached for the benefit of the entire community.
