POA Not Happy As Joell-Benjamin Gets Top Prison Post

Word coming to TNN from a reliable source suggesting that Keeva-Mae Joell-Benjamin has been confirmed as the Commissioner of Corrections after acting in that position for the past 4 years.

Despite the POA’s vote of no confidence letter which has been in the hands of government officials for two years and despite her ineffective leadership as acting Commissioner with a number of serious outstanding unresolved matters under her leadership including low staff morale, Mrs. Joell-Benjamin has been rewarded to the highest level.

The POA members are not happy at all about this appointment Further, the POA has been made to understand that all applications for the post both locally and overseas were overlooked in order to confirm her in post. The selection committee consisted of former Commissioner Edward Lamb, Head of Department of Employee and Organizational Development (DEOD) Carlita O’Brien and newly appointed HR Manager to the Dept of Corrections Michael Trott. Without transparency and along with the standard friends and family this appointment was inevitable.

The Dept of Corrections is in the worst position ever regarding the state of all facilities, and morale among staff, and inmates who have also lodged complaints under Mrs. Joell-Benjamin’s leadership.
