No acceptable broadcast bids to televise Cup Match likely to result in TV blackout

St George’s Cricket Club President Neil Paynter disclosed that no acceptable bid for television broadcast rights had been received prior to the March 17, 2023 deadline, resulting in there being no avenue to the match being shown live on television.

Paynter sent TNN a copy of an advertisement calling for interested parties to submit tenders, with the implication being that none had done so, hence this year’s classic appears unlikely to be shown on television as has been the case in previous years.

It is not clear if any last minute bids will be accepted or funding provided by outside sources to enable filming, in the absence of which only those physically attending will be able to watch the even, with others left to listen via radio waves.

TNN News has made several attempts to reach Neil Paynter for a comment, we await a reply.
