Nine Teachers Test Positive for COVID at Gilbert Institute

TNN has received information from reliable sources that nine teachers have tested positive for the Coronavirus at Gilbert Institute in only three days of school.

The Ministry of Education has recently released a list of schools that will be reopened tomorrow and as indicated, Gilbert Institute is not on that list. Instead, the school will be doing remote learning.

TNN is unsure of the extent of the outbreak at the school (for students), but will keep you updated.

According to the Ministry of Education, the following elementary schools will be opened to all students tomorrow ( January 10) for in-person learning:

St. George’s Preparatory, St. David’s Primary, East End Primary, Francis Patton, Harrington Sound, Prospect Primary, Victor Scott Primary, West Pembroke Primary, Dalton E. Tucker, Somerset Primary and West End Primary.
Elliot Primary, Paget Primary, Purvis and Heron Bay Primary will be open to specific students for specific classes.

Gilbert Institute is the only elementary school that will be completely remote next week.

According to the same statement by the Ministry of Education, Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy, Clearwater Middle School and Success Academy on Roberts’ Avenue will be open for full in-person learning starting tomorrow. Dellwood and Whitney Middle

Schools will be open for specific classes.
Sandys Secondary Middle School, Cedar Bridge Academy and the Berkeley Institute will also be completely remote next week.

“ Everyone has been working hard to get students back to school,” the Acting Education Minister the Hon. Tinee Furbert JP, MP, said in the statement.

“ We understand that testing delays have impacted this process, but we wish to thank parents, guardians, staff and students for their cooperation and patience as we ensure all students are back to in-person learning [ASAP].”
