Berkeley talks destination marketing and touts Bermuda’s enticing offerings for business and leisure travel on an international stage.
(BTA) newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Berkeley, spoke on the future of tourism in Bermuda at the Women & Worth Summit presented by Worth magazine, in New York City on Wednesday night. The event marks Berkeley’s first appearance on the international stage since being appointed CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) in March 2023.
Women & Worth Summit gathered experts, industry giants, entrepreneurs, investors, and government officials for a robust day of substantial conversations that empowered, educated and inspired women to amplify their worth. Notable speakers at the summit included Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and current co-founder of Now Corp Stacey Abrams and NASDAQ executive Kristina Ayanian.
With personal and professional experiences ranging from human resources to insurance and tourism, Berkeley shared her insight during a one-on-one session titled, Bermuda’s Time in the Sun, with interviewer Ayanian. As the BTA’s first-ever female CEO, Berkeley shined a light on the importance of women in leadership roles in the travel and hospitality industry, recognizing that women are often the decision-makers when it comes to shaping travel trends and planning trips. She also highlighted the significance of cultivating a senior leadership team of diverse backgrounds across Bermuda’s tourism industry.
“What I love about the tourism industry is the idea of connecting a sense of place to people. Bermuda is open for business, it’s a destination to be revered and we are ready to welcome you!” said Tracy Berkeley, commenting on the island’s tourism. “Throughout my career, my passion for personal connections with people and having an overarching vision for myself is what has guided me through my greatest obstacles. I am so happy to have landed here.”
The Women & Worth Summit is held annually at the SAP Headquarters in New York City’s Hudson Yards.
