MOvember Bermuda™ Raises Over $45,000 For Men’s Health

Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is pleased to announce our 2022 MOvember Bermuda™ fundraising award winners! This year we had a total of 19 participants, consisting of both individuals and teams, register for our annual Men’s Health fundraising initiative.

Participants chose to fundraise either by growing a moustache or through hosting an event such as a poker night or a sporting challenge. Collectively these amazing fundraisers have raised $45,577.55, far exceeding our $30,000 fundraising need, all of which supports the Centre’s Equal Access Fund. We are
so grateful for their efforts and for everyone who sponsored them!

This year the MO MO Award, which goes to the individual who raises the most amount of money during MOvember Bermuda™, was won by Mr. Nicholas Burke for raising a total of $700. Second place goes to Mr. Neville Dias and third place to Mr. Robert Holdipp, who raised $630 and $533, respectively, surpassing their individual fundraising goals!

Our Financial Services category contenders were neck-in-neck – making for another very exciting year!
After a brief hiatus from the event, team Aspen Bermuda Limited made a triumphant comeback by claiming the Financial Services award victory with a total of $13,203.55 raised! Battling it out for second and third place were last year’s champions: KPMG with $10,213 raised and Deloitte with a total
of $8,432.

This year’s Hospitality Challenge award winner is DHL Express (Bermuda), raising at total of $560. Team DHL participated for the first time in 2021, and we are thrilled to see them return and take the Hospitality win this year!
For a third consecutive year, the Sportsman Challenge trophy was awarded to Bermuda Rouleurs
Cycling Club (BRCC), who raised $3,750 through their BRCC MOvember Ride. Rather than growing moustaches, BRCC hosts a cycle ride across the Island with a participation fee donated to MOvember
Bermuda™. Those who register are also invited to the share the team’a fundraising URL to help raise both additional funds and awareness. Many thanks to the BRCC for hosting, and to all the participant  who support! Now, which sports clubs are game to challenge our longstanding champions for the  trophy next year?

Our annual MOvember Bermuda™ finale event would not be possible without the continued support of BGA and brand sponsor Gillette, as well as the team of barbers at Luxury Cuts who so generously donate their time for the shave-off. This year’s event had the special treat of BGA/Gillette sponsor,
Olatunji Tucker, raising an additional $500 pledge on the spot from supporters in attendance to shave his beard – highlighting just the sort of community event MOvember Bermuda™ really is! Thank you also to Clube Vasco da Gama for hosting us this year.

Whether by growing a MO or growing general awareness, all funds raised during November Bermuda™ continue to provide an opportunity for Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre to engage men
across the island in cancer prevention, education and early detection. It is through the generous donations and support of the community that the Centre can provide clinical services with zero co-pay through the Equal Access Fund, regardless of one’s health insurance.
