Motorcycle riding arrested on DWI charges after road traffic collision

Around 11:25 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, Police attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle, near the junction of Stovell Lane and South Road, Paget.

Officers were informed the bike was traveling in an easterly direction on South Road, when the rider appeared to have lost control of the vehicle and fell onto the roadway.

A member of the public contacted police while they remained with the bike rider who had suffered what were determined to be minor injuries.

Upon arrival, officers observed the bike rider displayed signs of intoxication.

He was subsequently arrested for driving while impaired. He had  a blood alcohol level of 179.5 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, more than twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

Checks revealed the subject  did not have a valid driver’s license.

He is expected to appear before the courts in the coming days.

The Bermuda Police Service encourages a community mindset shift to a culture where impaired driving is socially unacceptable. If a friend, family member, or colleague is insisting on driving, or riding under the influence, attempt to convince them not to take the chance.

If that doesn’t work, call 211 and report them. Saving lives and preventing serious injuries to friends, family members, work colleagues, visitors, as well as the motoring public in general, through such proactive interventions, helps make Bermuda’s roads safer for all.
