Ministry of Public Works Responds to Water Mains Failures Across Multiple Locations

“We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by the disruption of water services in these areas,” said Acting Minister of Public Works Michael Weeks, in response to issues with Government-owned water pipes.

The Ministry of Public Works is actively addressing and responding to a series of failures in the water mains utilised for replenishment (Top-Up) services which are affecting various areas within the eastern portion of the Island.

These pipe disruptions have resulted in the shutdown of water supply along Middle Road through Flatts and North Shore, Hamilton Parish; Brighton Hill to South Shore Road in Devonshire; and Verdmont Road, Smiths.

Due to unforeseen circumstances and logistical issues resulting from the holiday season in both the private and public sectors, the repairs may not be able to be completed prior to 15 January 2024. However, planning stages are well underway to address.

“We assure the public that our teams are working to rectify these issues as swiftly and safely as possible,” added Minister Weeks.

The Ministry has acknowledged recent customer complaints regarding the lack of water service and sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Residents and businesses affected by these disruptions are encouraged to conserve water where possible and if low, please contact private suppliers to supplement.

The Ministry of Public Works is focused on ensuring the timely resolution of these water mains failures and will continue to provide updates as the situation progresses.
