Minister Roban to represent Bermuda at the 11th Annual World Ocean Summit

The Ministry of Home Affairs is pleased to advise that the Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs, the Hon. Walter Roban, JP, MP, will represent Bermuda at the 11th Annual World Ocean Summit and Expo in Lisbon, Portugal, from March 11th to 13th, 2024.

Minister Roban explained, “I am happy to share that while attending COP28 and speaking at an event hosted by Island Innovation, the Economist, recognized as one of the world’s most highly regarded business publications, invited me to speak at the World Ocean Conference in Lisbon. Having represented Bermuda in 2022 on the invitation of the Portuguese and French Governments, this will be my second time invited to the conference.”

This year, Minister Roban will participate in a panel discussion on Increasing capacity for restoration and economic development in small island developing states (SIDS) and a strategy session on Driving ocean-centred solutions by islanders for small island developing states at the World Ocean Summit. The Minister will also discuss economic development and sustainable blue economies with several agencies and government officials, including Deutsche Bank.

Minister Roban continued, “These panels will host some of the most significant global voices and thought leaders in ocean conservation and climate change. I am again honoured and humbled by the invitation to participate in this annual event and look forward to sharing the outcomes of my engagements and discussions.”
