Minister Darrell Attends Art Opening at National Gallery

On Monday evening, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Owen Darrell, JP, attended an exhibition launch at the Bermuda National Gallery.

The exhibition was curated by Dr. Edwin M.E. Smith and showcased local Bermudian artists, with the theme ‘A Sense of Belonging: Connection and Community in Bermuda Art’.

Minister Darrel said, “It was a privilege to be on hand for this exhibition of stunning art at the National Gallery.

Dr. Smith brought together pieces in this show that explore the connections, engagement and shared experiences that shape our Bermudian culture and community.”

The Bermuda Government is proud to have been able to loan two art pieces by Robert Bassett to the National Gallery to serve as the anchors for this show.”

Local Bermudian artists featured in the exhibit include Robert Bassett, Bill Ming, Charles Lloyd Tucker, Robert Barritt, Sharon Muhammad, and Graham Foster.
